ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER (ELC)

PROJECT INFORMATION

los Angeles, CA

Thesis statement

Circa 1989

Our Planet has been abused and is presently faced with a number of serious environmental dilemmas. The blame for its destruction rests squarely on the shoulders of each one of us who contributes to or even tolerates environmental abuse. This museum and learning center is intended to raise concern and awareness about the world's environmental problems. It will expose visitors to simple methods they can integrate into their lives which help improve the condition of our planet. The project will also incorporate this city's greatest lost natrual amenity, the Los Angeles river, into the design with the intention of revitalizing its once beautiful natural image. The interaction and emotional engagement people have with the sky, land and water is an essential aspect of this project and it is through these natural amenities that the form is derived.
