2021 AIA SFV AWARD

This Los Hermosos project is located on a hillside property in the Hollywood Hills with spectacular 180-degree views from Downtown to Century City. This residency design incorporates modernist inspiration that aids in the advantage and appreciation of the amazing views. This modern and spacious home has large multi-panel operable sliding doors that are used to connect the outdoors and indoors spaces. These multi-panel doors allow for a blur between the indoor-outdoor space, allowing the residents to fully experience everything the home has to offer. The use of different exterior materials such as stone clad forms, plaster and wood throughout the home breaks up the building mass as well as provides articulations and shading. A covered patio deck is located on the south back end of the home with clear views of the city below, while also limiting the amount of sun glare entering the house. A pool is located on the outer back corner of the property; the thought-out location of the pool and its infinite edge emphasizes the view and location of the home. Through careful planning and design, the goals set forth for this canyon home were met and will allow the homeowners to enjoy the Southern California climate and scenery.
